Smile!

Raise your hand if you love to smile! Raise your hand if you love to be around others who smile! Me too! When engaging with others, genuine smiles are powerful! Per imarticus.org, health experts suggest that smiling reduces anxiety. It can also create the perception that you are approachable, positive, and friendly. Your smile can also provide relief for others around you who may be experiencing stress. Smiling is a good way to break tension.

Whether you’re nervous in front of a crowd or meeting new people, smiling is a great non-verbal way to break the ice! An authentic smile can also indicate that you are a safe place for people; a trustworthy source. Be an encourager! Smile! If you need a quick pick-me-up during the day, intentionally challenge yourself to smile throughout the day. If you identify that someone else needs a morale-booster, smile at them. You’ll find that when you feel less stressed and more hopeful, your productivity will increase. When you smile at someone else, you can build trust with them (which also increases productivity). Whether professionally or personally, we all want good morale, trust, and increased productivity. Don’t estimate the might of a smile.

In my experience, smiles are powerful communication tools! They are free, and their benefits are invaluable. Before the day ends today, make sure you put those pearly whites on display.
